Have you ever heard of a group called the Oslo Freedom Forum? It’s an annual event that happens. It’s all about liberty and individual civil liberties. It’s so big each year, that it’s on its way to becoming side-by-side with the Devos Forum. The Devos Forum is a human rights event platform that also happens each year. Thor puts it all together and presides over it.

Much of Thor’s ambition comes from what happened to him during his early years.

“Going through something like this at a very early age, it has a major impact on one’s life. It makes you fight harder for the injustices in the world. It makes you want to route for the underdog. My father was investigated and imprisoned when I was in college. My mother was shot during a rally. It changes you and your outlook on life.”

Thor Halvorssen has been widely praised by the New York Times, as well as written for it. He has also written for The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post, as well as others.

“When it comes to being a human rights activist, you really do have to speak up. You have to speak your mind, even if no one agrees with you. You are in this fight to make the world a better place.”

You can find out more about him by going to one of his special interest groups sites.
